Tampo / Pad Printing

Pad printing (also called tampography) is a printing process that can transfer a 2-D image onto a 3-D object. This is accomplished using an indirect offset (gravure) printing process that involves an image being transferred from the cliche via silicone pad onto a substrate. Pad printing is used for printing on otherwise difficult to print on products in many industries including medical, automotive, promotional, apparel, and electronic objects, as well as appliances, sports equipment and toys. It can also be used to deposit functional materials such as conductive inks, adhesives, dyes and lubricants.

At EPD we have a wide range of Tampo machines varying from 1 colour machines to 4 colour machines, affording us tremendous flexibility in this area. Common items printed using this method are golf balls, soccer balls, pens, flash drives, computer components, keyrings, lanyards, etc. Just like our other forms of printing, we are able to supply you with a wide range of promotional and other print ready products for you to personalize.

It is always a great marketing tool to at least have one personalized item on your customers desk at all times to constantly remind them of you.

Screen Printing

Screen printing is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed. Our main focus with screen printing is on garments. We print t-shirts, hoodies, aprons, pillow cases and most other material items. We have trade accounts at most of the garment suppliers, so we are able to provide you with both the garment and the printing. We do practically everything in-house, so we are able to control quality and timelines more effectively.

This form of printing is not really suited to very small print runs because of the set up costs involved. We figure that 20 items is a good starting point but like most forms of printing, the higher the quantity, the lower the unit price. For very small quantities (1-20) we are able to offer either vinyl or sublimation prints. EPD currently has both “Piano Board” style and Carousel Screen Printing machines, allowing us tremendous flexibility when printing various jobs. It also doesn’t restrict or limit us to printing only a certain amount of colours on a garment, we can print as many colours as you want. We also have a Cylindrical Screen Printing Machine which is used for printing on cylindrical objects such as glasses, bottles, containers, etc.
